Indians were cheated by America. They were forced to sell their land in dollars. It is a sad fact that by an executive order, Indians were forced off their native land. About 19,500 Greek, 20,000 Cherokee, 4,300 Chickasaw, 2,833 Seminole and 12,500 were compelled to go Oklahoma. Thousands of Indians lost their lives due to diseases, frostbite and hunger. This journey is also renowned in history as the “Trial of Tears”. It was indeed one of Hitler’s inspirations for the Holocaust. President Andrew Jackson set an infamous example by approving removal Act of 1830. Through this act USA allotted about 7000 armed militia to force the Indians out. Approximately 2000 to 8000 people died of cholera. And this was the dirty politics of white politicians.
